Fiona BLAKE

ORIGINAL ARTWORK & CERAMICS

ABOUT

I’m Fiona Blake, a ceramicist and painter whose creations are inspired by life’s adventures, my rich heritage, and the captivating people and landscapes that have shaped my journey. Born amidst the lush tropics of Papua New Guinea to Australian and PNG ancestry, my upbringing was a vibrant tapestry of cultures.

After relocating to the subtropics of Brisbane in 1983, I spent my formative years immersed in its beauty. Today, I proudly call the southernmost tip of the Gold Coast my home, drawing inspiration from its tranquil shores and breathtaking vistas.

My artistic exploration began at a young age, with brushes and palettes becoming a constant in my life. Although life led me into the legal realm for a time, my passion for art never waned. It wasn’t long before I discovered the whimsical world of watercolours, a medium that resonated deeply and garnered recognition, including as a finalist at the Milburn Art Prize and receiving a “Highly Commended” nod at the Border Art Prize, now the Wollumbin Art Award.

But my creative journey didn’t stop there. Intrigued by the tactile nature of ceramics and sculpture, I ventured into this realm, adding new dimensions to my expressive repertoire. Moulding clay into tangible, utilitarian forms brought me inspiration, and reflects my love for vibrant colours, the rhythmic patterns of nature, and the profound connections I hold with diverse people and places.

Ultimately, my aim is to infuse warmth and positivity into your space through my ceramics and to ignite conversations and evoke emotions with my paintings. Whether it’s a captivating canvas or a handcrafted ceramic piece, I hope my creations add a touch of uniqueness to your everyday life.

Thank you for joining me on this artistic exploration.
